Minimalism, Project 333, and The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Have you ever cleaned madly, only to find that all too soon your home or workspace looks just like a few days ago? If so, you should start by discarding and reorganizing your space. That’s what the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up is all about. Ironically, the book about decluttering and living with less is a bestseller in the USA – a country where consumerism became a way of life. Curious to learn more? Check out these book notes by Caitlin Bristow (!

We keep buying stuff without really thinking ‘Why”. To buy more stuff, we need to work overtime, get second jobs, cut on sick and vacation days… As a result, we have a very unhappy nation. For those who want to learn more and hear the real stories from people who are happier while owning less, I recommend Netflix documentary “The Minimalists“. Those guys also wrote a book on a subject and have a free 30-day minimalist challenge available online!

Project 333

If you don’t know where to start and don’t feel like throwing away all your stuff just yet, there is a minimalist fashion challenge Project 333 that i highly recommend. In a nutshell, you choose a small collection of 33 items including clothing, jewelry, accessories and shoes that encourage you to wear your favorite things every day for 3 months. Not the trendiest things or the most expensive things, but they things you actually love.

Once you have experienced what it’s like to have a truly ordered house, you’ll feel more free (I know how cheesy it sounds, but…). Despite what commercials are telling us, we can be actually happier with less. Are you ready to try one of the challenges above? Share your thoughts in a comment section below!
